Champagne supermarket: store gets proper Manc rebrand ahead of Oasis gigs

Aldi’s Prestwich store has been cheekily renamed ‘Aldeh’ in honour of Oasis’s Heaton Park reunion gigs, giving shoppers a proper Manc welcome with a musical twist.

Save for later

If you’ve popped down Bury New Road for your big shop this week and done a double-take outside Aldi, no, you’re not seeing things through a haze of nostalgia and cheap lager.

The sign really does say “Aldeh”.

One of the most Manc moments of 2025 so far (and we’ve had a few already), Aldi’s Prestwich store has had a proper rebrand in honour of Oasis’s long-awaited reunion gigs.

The Gallagher brothers are back, hopefully without throwing plums at each other this time, and Aldi is celebrating in the only way that truly matters: with a big, brassy nod to the city’s legendary accent.

Let’s be honest, if you’re from around here, you’ve never called it “Aldi” anyway.

Local Legends meet budget bangers

The renamed store is just a short stomp from Heaton Park, where Liam and Noel will play five sold-out nights from 11th July. The gigs mark the first time the iconic brothers have shared a stage since their infamous bust-up backstage in Paris 16 years ago.

The band’s tour kicks off on 4th July in Cardiff before heading back to its spiritual home, Manchester, and finishing in Brazil later this year. But let’s face it: the real party is happening right here.

Julie Ashfield, Aldi’s top brass of bargains and banter (officially, Chief Commercial Officer), said the store’s temporary name change is a tribute to “the local dialect and the legendary band that has brought so much joy to fans worldwide.”

She said, “Manchester is a vibrant city with a rich musical history, and with the Oasis reunion, we wanted to mark the occasion. By temporarily renaming our Bury New Road store to ‘Aldeh,’ we’re celebrating both the local dialect and the legendary band that has brought so much joy to fans worldwide.”

Aldimania bucket hats

And in a cheeky nod to the 90s indie fashion revival, Aldi’s also launching its own limited edition ‘Aldimania’ bucket hats (£4.99 and an absolute steal, let’s be honest). They hit shelves on 3 July, just in time to kit yourself out before heading down to Heaton Park. Expect chaos in the middle aisle.

Lidl’s spoof Liam Gallagher plaque

This isn’t the first time a budget supermarket’s shown its love for Manc music royalty. You might remember Lidl slapping up a spoof blue plaque at its Newton Heath store last year, after Liam joked about performing there if Co-op Live couldn’t get its act together. (We’d have been there, front row, grabbing a sausage roll and a mosh.)

So What’s Next?

Could we see a range of “Definitely Maybe Meal Deals”? A “Champagne Supernoodle” special? Aldi hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but if they rename the bakery section “Roll With It,” we’ll consider it the greatest marketing campaign in history.
